Come Paddle With Us

Come paddle with us on Lake Lanier and take advantage of all LCKC has to offer. We have a wide range of programs for ages 7 and up and a fleet of kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddle boards and dragon boats.

No Experience Required

No experience is required and LCKC provides the equipment. Better yet, paddling is a lifetime sport, can be picked up at any age, and provides a great all-over workout.

Located at the 1996 Olympic Venue

Located at the site of the 1996 Lake Lanier Olympic Venue, LCKC keeps the Olympic legacy alive. We offer beautiful scenery, a large “no-wake” zone around the boathouse, and a world-class flatwater racing course.

Event Description

The Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club (LCKC), a Legacy program of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games and home to Team USA Kayak and Dragon Boat paddlers is very pleased to host the 24th edition of this chilly New Years Day tradition set for Saturday, January 1st, 2022. Event will take place on the docks of the LCKC. * Paddle leaves from the LCKC docks at 11:00am for a 2 mile guided paddle * Plunge begins at Noon behind the boathouse Register for one or both events! This annual event is a fund-raising activity for non-profit LCKC which draws thrill seekers of all walks of life to immerse themselves into the cool waters of Lake Lanier to bring in the New Year. Check-In and On-site Registration opens at 10:30am. Shirts for those registered by Dec 17.
Event Fees Registration Fee - Plunge or Paddle $20.00
Optional Fees Boat Rental (Limited to 15 Rentals) $30.00. Do both Paddle and Plunge for $10 more!

Introductory Instructional Programs

Each summer, LCKC hosts several 1-week sessions of summer day camp. Designed for kids age 7-12, campers are introduced to the basics of kayak and canoe in a safe and fun environment.

Sprint & Flatwater Racing Teams

LCKC’s racing team is for athletes age 10 and up who have learned the basics and are ready to take the sport to the next level. The training program is tiered to serve intermediate to Olympic level.

Dragon Boat Program

Corporate team building. Exercise. Intense. Fun. The 2,000 year old sport of Dragon Boat paddling is both an entry level  activity and high-performance racing. 

About LCKC

LCKC is a 501(c)(3) organization that is dedicated to continuing the 1996 Olympic legacy by promoting the Olympic sports of flatwater sprint Canoe/Kayak at the Lake Lanier Olympic Park.

The club offers community outreach though summertime public rentals of canoes and kayaks, recreational outings, Corporate Team Building in Dragon Boats, and large and small group activities.

Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club is a feeder program for the U.S. National Teams for flatwater racing in Dragon Boat and Canoe/Kayak.  We host a number of programs and events each year that support local, regional, national, and international flatwater programs and other charitable organizations.

Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club also offers a number of other recreational and introductory programs that are open to non-members including yoga classes, learn-to sessions and moonlight paddles.

LCKC has also partnered with Blaze Sports to offer a paracanoe and kayak program and is the training ground for multi-time State Champions, the Hall County Special Olympic Kayaking Team which includes World Champion Will Crain.


Come out and give it a try! Rent a canoe, kayak, SUP, or pedal boat. Rentals are available Saturday (10A - 5P), Sunday (11A - 5P) and weekdays by reservations made at least 24 hours in advance (

Our knowledgeable staff will assist you in choosing a boat, paddle, and life jacket and give you some basic tips to help you get started and have a safe and enjoyable paddle on the lake. All rentals launch from and return to the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue Docks at Clarks Bridge Park.

Recreational Membership

If you are looking for a fun way to enjoy Lake Lanier, LCKC’s recreational membership is a great deal. For just $150 per year for individuals or $300 per family of 4, you will benefit from:

  • Access to our recreational boats during open hours along with usage of our paddles and life jackets
  • Moonlight paddles at no additional cost, which is led by a professional coach to ensure safety
  • Discounts on summer day camp

And, if you have your own kayak, canoe, or SUP, you can store it in the LCKC boathouse for an additional $120 per year.
